To: the prior and convent of Canterbury Cathedral Priory

The king has summoned Walter Reynolds, archbishop of Canterbury, to appear before him at Westminster on 20 Apr concerning the right of appointing a prior ('advocacio') and status of Dover Priory, which Walter says belongs to him by right of the cathedral priory. The king also commands the cathedral priory to send some of its monks to the hearing so that he can be better informed about its rights in Dover Priory.
