DescriptionFrom: Bernard Roiardi, archdeacon of Xanten [Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany], papal chaplain, auditor of contradictory letters

Mgr Franco de Podiobonizi, proctor of the prior and convent of Dover Priory sought papal letters concerning the place of judgement and appointment of a judge, and Mgr Ralph de Lacu, proctor of prior and chapter of Canterbury Cathedral Priory, opposed them. Eventually both proctors chose the archdeacon of Rochester as judge and Bernard chose the bishop of Rochester and delegated papal authority to both judges. Partially recites the letters of Pope John XXII, dated 27 Nov 1316 at Avignon, addressed to the bishop of Rochester, the prior of Rochester Cathedral Priory and the archdeacon of Rochester.
