| Description | From: Thomas de Fyndone, abbot of St Augustine's Abbey, Canterbury
He has inspected Pope Innocent [III]'s privilege, addressed to Geoffrey [II], prior of Canterbury Cathedral Priory, and his brothers [dated 3 Apr 1200, partly recited]. Among other things, this confirmed the cathedral priory's possession of Dover Priory and authority over it. The monks of Dover are only to be professed in Canterbury Cathedral by the archbishop of Canterbury and priors of Dover are to be appointed by the cathedral priory. The prior and monks of Dover are to be subject to the archbishop and the cathedral priory. This subjection can never be alienated and Dover Priory is not to withdraw its obedience to the cathedral priory during a vacancy. Part of date clause lost, but the date appears to be St Thomas the Apostle's day. [Seal reunited with document on the basis of the entry in Beauvoir's catalogue, cited below.]
