DescriptionActa before the archdeacons of London ('maior'') and Middlesex [Mgr Richard de Swinfield and Mgr Ralph de Baldock], commissaries of John Pecham, archbishop of Canterbury, in St Paul's Cathedral, London, on 19 Oct 1282. The archbishop is papal judge delegate in a case between the subprior and convent of Dover Priory, plaintiffs ('actores'), represented by the subprior as their proctor, and the prior and chapter of Canterbury Cathedral Priory, whose proctor is Hugh de Dereby, clerk, substituting for John of Dover, concerning the restoration of a composition between the parties which had been to the disadvantage of Dover Priory. Documents as specified were read. Both parties requested copies of some documents and the judges ordered copies of the relevant documents to be made. The date of the next sitting was fixed for 12 Nov, when the prior of Dover [Anselm of Eastry] was to say whether he wished to assist his subprior and convent in defending the cases.
