Order NumberCCA-DCc-SealBag/5
TitleSeal Bag No. 5
Date12th century
DescriptionW-shaped fabric, 20 x 13 cm, not to contain a seal but apparently used to wrap a charter. Design: Unclear, but recorded as birds and a rabbit in blue and cream; Robinson notes that this was apparent in a colour representation in the Victoria and Albert Museum. However, even by the mid-1930s the original had visibly deteriorated. The fabric is probably Sicilian.
