Description | The prior was the administrative, executive, and, at this date, financial head of Christ Church priory. His accounts list receipts from arrears, the manors in each wardenship (East Kent, the Weald, Surrey, and Essex), fruits and pensions from churches, obedientaries, oblations, and obventions, and then expenses for obedientaries and other officials, taxation, repairs to the church and estates, and travel costs. The series has suffered badly with many of the items now only fragments and even more now lost. |
