| Description | Writer: Canterbury, cathedral, dean and chapter| Addressee: Talbot, Charles, Lord Chancellor
In 1713, after the death of John Booth, previous rector, the dean and chapter presented Isaac Satur to Brook, benefice in their patronage. When he died in 1722 the dean and chapter presented [William] Gostling [antiquary]. It now appears that Satur never sought institution and induction. Gostling obtained a Great Seal [patent] because of this. The living was augmented by sums given by the dean and chapter and by Dr Godolphin, late dean of St Paul's. The patronage of the living may still be the right of the Crown, by lapse. Asking for Mr James Henstridge, minor canon, to be presented to it. [Date: Henstridge's induction to the parish] |
