A record of certain Acts in the years 1181 to 1186, viz., as follows:- (a) Alan prior of Christ Church in 1186, in the presence of Archbishop Richard forbids high Mass to be said, until an excommunicated person should withdraw from the Church. (b) Proceedings on the death of the Bishop of Rochester (1182). - The Bishop's pastoral staff was laid on the high altar at Canterbury as a token of the subjection of the See of Rochester to Canterbury. (c) Archbishop Richards' confirmation of the grant of William Fitz Ralph de Ainesford of the Church of Ainesford (Eynsford) to the prior and convent of Christ Church, Canterbury. (d) William of Ainesford's acquittance to the Prior and Chapter of Christ Church for the payments of 100 marcs from the oblations at Archbishop Becket's tomb. |
