| Description | Papers of the Special Restoration Fund, set up at St Catherine's Chapter 1846 for 'the undertaking and carrying on of special works by additional workmen, over and above the works ordinarily undertaken for the reparation of the Fabric'. The monies in question were to come from the sale of chapter land and Railway or other companies, or the produce of mines and minerals. Administration of the funds was charged to a Special Treasurer, chosen from within the chapter. The bundle contains abstracts of the relevant chapter minutes about the establishment of the fund; abstracts of expenses and wages, for six-month periods, paid out by the Special Treasurer; yearly statements of the works executed on his behalf; and bills of W George Austin for works to the stained glass windows. |
