| Description | Of Mr Walter de Corf, to a case over the church of Sydling Do brought before the Court of Canterbury [sede vacante] by Mr Garsinus, royal clerk. [Not dated. In this document, Walter excepts that he is prepared to answer Garsinus before the sede vacante official deputed in the diocese of Salisbury by authority of the Court of Canterbury: this suggests the period 4 Jan 1271-13 May 1274 (the dates of the vacancy of the see of Salisbury). Other evidence may narrow the possibilities further: ES Roll 382, a fragment from this case, indicates that Walter de la Wyle, bishop of Salisbury, has just died (he died on 3 or 4 Jan 1271). |
