| Description | Description of proceedings before the auditor [?of the archbishop's Court of Audience] over an annual pension from the church of St Mary Aldermary, London, between John Bowe, rector of St Mary's, on the one hand and the prior and convent of Christ Church Canterbury on the other. Also recounted is a compromise agreement between the parties to this case. In the King's Head tavern, Cheapside, London, the rector paid to John Waltham, sometime sacrist of the sacristy, the £4 pension in dispute, and promised John Goldwell [the current sacrist?] 20 shillings owed to him; in return he was paid 10 shillings and got his breakfast. [Not dated. The legal proceedings are said to have been written up in the register of 'the Lord of Canterbury' on 21 Nov 1458. This seems to predate the compromise agreement, though probably not by long]. The purpose of this record is uncertain.
