| Description | Examination of witnesses on behalf of Mr Anselm de Eastry, rector of Eastry K, for a case in the Court of Canterbury against the prior and chapter of Christ Church. The witnesses are examined on a contrary fact [to a tuitorial appeal by the monks] that the prior and chapter, and the officials looking after their holdings in the parish - John Lefston, reeve and Thomas de Welles, keeper of keys - despoiled Anselm of tithes due to him as rector. Depositions by Richard de Pylleholte, chaplain, Nicholas de Esta, clerk and John Feykyn. [Not dated. Case began in 1285 and was settled in 1291: Select Cases, introduction p30n; ChAnt/E/168] |
