John and Thomas are bound to Henry in £50, payable as specified. Henry grants that if John and Thomas enfeoff him for life with a messuage with buildings in Walmgate in the suburbs of York, lying between the churchyard of St Lawrence's church and the land of the abbot and convent of St Mary's Abbey, York, and between the king's highway in front and and a king's lane ('venella regia') behind, so that after his death the land shall remain to the burgesses of Richmond for the maintenance of a chaplain to celebrate divine service at the altar of St Thomas the martyr in Holy Trinity church, Richmond, in accordance with feoffments of divers lands made to the burgesses of Richmond for the chaplain's maintenance, the bond shall be void.
