| Description | Party: the convent of Canterbury Cathedral Priory Party: Roger mansellus; the wife of Roger mansellus [Document damaged. Several areas of text lost or illegible. Many details supplied from registered version.] Roger claimed that the land called Wootton [Sussex] belonged to him by marriage because William of Malling ('mellinges'), his wife's father, had unjustly given it to him because he had possession of it from the priory as farmer at that time. Roger seeing that he could not proceed, renounced his claim and that of his wife and his son into Prior Wibert's hand. The priory gave Roger 2 marks on condition that he will not resume ('reformo') his claim. If the heirs of Godfrey wish to resume their claim, Roger may support ('tueri') their part. No date. [Date: dates of Prior Wibert, I.] Given at Canterbury, where Roger and his wife received ½ a mark of the money. At Patching, Roger and Andrew his son received 20s so that Andrew should observe everything his parents had agreed at Canterbury.
