| Description | From: Theobald, archbishop of Canterbury and papal legate Addressed to all the archbishop's men of Wootton and Patching [both Sussex], both French and English. The archbishop wishes to provide that W, prior of Canterbury Cathedral Priory, and the priory monks, shall possess their jurisdiction in the said vills ('villa') quietly. He commands the addressees to answer to the priory and its servants ('minister') for everything they possess in those vills. He has returned those vills to the priory, as the present deed witnesses.
