Date15 Mar 1616
DescriptionParty: Edward Wooton, lord Marley, controller of the household and privy councillor
Party: the dean and chapter of Canterbury Cathedral

The dean and chapter and their predecessors have a watercourse, spring heads, conduits and cisterns in Canterbury Park, which convey water from the park to the catherdral precincts, and a right of access to repair, maintain and renew them. Edward now owns Canterbury Park and has recently made a new pond and fishpond ('stew') above part of the watercourse, which will damage the water supply, unless it is channelled beneath the pond in pipes of lead or timber. The pond will also prevent the dean and chapter repairing and maintaining their water supply.
Edward grants the dean and chapter authority to make pipes of lead or timber under his pond with access to repair, maintain and renew them when necessary. He also allows them to dig up the ground, lay pipes, drain the pond and do anything else necessary to carry out the work. The dean and chapter will give notice of any work to Edward's park-keeper or other officer. They also agree to let the water run overnight after any work has been carried out to refill Edward's ponds. The dean and chapter promise that they and their workmen will not carry out any unnecessary work or drain Edward's ponds unnecessarily. Edward's signature on plica. Dean and chapter's part of indenture. Dated 15 Mar 49JasVI, English regnal year illegible.
