| Description | From: Robert Hathbrande, prior of Canterbury Cathedral Priory; the officers ('personae maiores') of the convent of Canterbury Cathedral Priory
The priory has proved the testament of John Stratford, late archbishop of Canterbury. The priory, in the presence of Robert Stratford, bishop of Chichester, Mgr John de Lecch', 'Dominus' John de Pulteneye, knight, 'Dominus' John de Eccleshale, clerk, and 'Dominus' Richard de Twynerton', clerk, the executors named in the testament, asked Mgr Richard Vagahn ('Wacham'), archdeacon of Surrey, another executor, whether he wished to act with the others. He said that he did not. The priory objected that after the archbishop's death Richard had administered his goods, but he made an oath that he did not wish to be involved in the execution and administration and the priory approved his renunciation. Given at Canterbury. |
