James?] his father in Swalecliffe parish, lying between the priory's solar ('solarium') and the king's highway below ('sub') Thornden. Also for a garden and a croft lying in Swalecliffe parish at Thornden. Witnesses: Ralph atte Welle; Thomas le Forest'; John de Bosco; Mgr Nicholas of Herne; John of Ellenden ('Elyndenn'') [in Dunkirk]; Thomas le Blak'; John of Strode [in Herne]; John son of Scholastica ('Scolastr''); Richard son of Scholastica ('Scolastr''); Geoffrey de Chelde Endorsed with description, 'Thorynden' and note of registration in late 13th cent hands. The description states that Nicholas is the son of Copin of Thornden [in Swalecliffe].
