Description | Probably relating to the case between the prior and convent of Canterbury Cathedral Priory and Mgr Richard de Ferringes, archdeacon of Canterbury concerning sede vacante jurisdiction. [Documents incomplete and damaged. Beginning and end of roll missing.] Positions with the other party's responses. The positions give many examples of sede vacante jurisdiction exercised by archdeacons Simon of Langton and Hugh de Mortuo Mari during the vacancies following the deaths of archbishops Stephen Langton, Richard Grant and Boniface of Savoy, and were presumably submitted on behalf of the archdeacon.
