Giles de Adria, proctor of Mgr Thomas de Corbrige, rector of Maidstone, sought letters from the pope and Philip de Pomonte, clerk, proctor of the prior and chapter of Canterbury Cathedral Priory, sought a copy for himself. Recites letters of Pope Nicholas III, addressed to the archbishop of Canterbury dated 7 Mar 1279 at St Peter's Rome. Concerning the authority of Robert de Seleseya, the priory's official sede vacante, over Thomas. Robert commanded Thomas to show obedience to the priory, but Thomas claimed that only the archdeacon of Canterbury could exercise the archbishop's jurisdcition sede vacante. Robert refused to hear him, so Thomas appealed to the pope. The archbishop is to hear and determine the appeal. Also recites the pope's letters to the archbishop, the bishop of Norwich and the archdeacon of London on behalf of Mgr Richard de Aulanby, rector of Adisham, dated 15 Mar 1279 at St Peter's Rome.
