He received the priory's letters dated 30 Nov at its chapter house in Canterbury (recited) on 5 Dec. Since the see of Canterbury is vacant by the death of Walter Reynolds, late archbishop, the priory nominates Mgr Geoffrey de Eyton' and Hugh de sancto Ivone, its fellow monk, in accordance with the agreement between it and Stephen and asks him to approve one of them to be appointed as official of the court of Canterbury sede vacante. Stephen approves the appointment of Geoffrey.
