Description | From: Ralph de Baldock, bishop of London To: Henry of Eastry, prior of Canterbury Cathedral Priory; the chapter of Canterbury Cathedral Priory
He has received the priory's letters dated 5 Jun at its chapter house in Canterbury (recited) at Stepney on 6 Jun. Since the see of Canterbury is vacant by the death of Robert Winchelsey, late archbishop, the priory nominates Richard de Clyve, its fellow monk, and Mgr Roger of Rothwell ('Rowelle'), archdeacon of Bedford, in accordance with the agreement between it and Ralph, and asks him to approve one of them to be appointed as official of the court of Canterbury sede vacante. Ralph approves the appointment of Roger. Given at Stepney ('Stebbenheth'') [Middlesex].
