DescriptionFrom: the official of the court of Canterbury, appointed by the prior and chapter of Canterbury Cathedral Priory sede vacante
To: Mgr Roger le Rous, subdean of Exeter Cathedral

The proctors of Richard de Clyst, chaplain, and Warren de Alneto, have complained that Roger, falsely claiming to be a papal judge delegate, at the promotion of 'Dominus' Andrew de Trelesk', knight, caused them to be summoned for judgement concerning a large sum of money. Richard and Warren appealed to the pope and to the protection (tuition) of the court of Canterbury, but Roger ignored their appeal, denounced them as excommunicate and condemned them to pay Andrew a large sum of money. The official inhibits Roger from acting pending the appeal and cites him to appear, and commands him to cite Andrew to appear, at the church of St Mary-le-Bow, London, on 15 Oct. [Document damaged.
