He has asked the prior to negotiate with the bishop of Winchester about raising a loan on the tithes to finance the prosecution of the business of his election at the papal curia. He has given a verbal message to Mgr Nicholas Romano, the bishop's clerk, to pass on to the bishop and suggests that the prior discusses the matter with Nicholas. Nicholas can also give the prior more information about the state of the papal curia than Robert can put into a letter.
