To: the official of the bishop of Rochester

[Document damaged. Place date and several other areas of text illegible.] Jordan, rector of Leigh, Rochester diocese, has complained that the official of Rochester, at the instigation of William polle, wishes to ordain a vicarage at Leigh, without reasonable cause and without his consent or the consent of the patron. Jordan appealed to the pope and to the court of Canterbury for protection (tuition), but the official of Rochester ignored this and caused him to be cited at William's instance. The official of Rochester is to cite William to appear on 7 Oct and to appear himself.

Endorsed 'xvid' in late 13th cent hand.
