Description | Party: Peter, lord ('Dominus') of Southchurch Party: Mgr Roger the mason ('cementarius') of Prittlewell Roger is to build a new chapel in the churchyard of Southchurch (Essex), dimensions as specified. Details of windows to be provided in the chapel. Peter will provide building materials as specified and other things necessary for the work at his own cost in the place where the chapel ought to be built. He will give Roger 11½ marks, a quarter of wheat and a gown and in addition 2 small [pieces?] of bacon when it pleases him. Peter shall give 15 days' notice ('premunio') to Roger and the men working for him ('subditus suus') if they are to be removed and the same notice if they are to be recalled. To strengthen the agreement, both parties have found sureties, namely John Serle, Robert lectewyn, Stephen le marechal, Laurence the baker ('pistor') and Alexander of Northampton.
