Description | From: John de Chisull I, bishop of London To: Thomas de Ringmere, prior of Canterbury Cathedral Priory; the chapter of Canterbury Cathedral Priory
He has received the priory's letters dated 7 Jan at its chapter house in Canterbury (recited). For various reasons, Mgr Richard de Stratford has been removed from the officiality of the court of Canterbury sede vacante, in accordance with the composition between the priory and John. The priory nominates Mgr Omer of Canterbury and Robert de Celeseya and asks John to approve one of them to be appointed as official. John strongly disapproves of one of the nominees but because of evils which have arisen from disputes about the exercise of sede vacante jurisdiction, which disputes may be revived and continued in future, he approves Omer. Given at Orsett [Essex].
