John de Sittingbourne, I, prior of Canterbury Cathedral Priory, Richard, the priory's cellarer, J, the priory's precentor, and R, priory monk, have come to the king with the priory's letters patent, seeking permission to elect a new archbishop because John has freely withdrawn from his election as archbishop in the pope's presence. The king grants his permisssion. Enrolled version dated 12 Aug.
