By a deed dated 11 Nov 1613 the dean and chapter leased a messuage called 'the Hermitage' on Streatham Common in Streatham, Surrey, to Thomas Smithe, late of Canterbury, yeoman, to be enclosed as an orchard, with the consent of the tenants of the manor of Vauxhall, of which the common is part, for a term of 21 years. Elizabeth, who is the administratrix of Thomas's goods, surrenders the lands and the lease. Elizabeth's mark at end of document.
