[Document damaged. Some text lost.] A chaplain to celebrate mass daily at the altar of the Holy Spirit before the sign of the cross erected specially for that purpose to north for Thomas and the souls of John, his father, Margery, his mother, 'Dominus' William, knight, his brother, Joan and Margaret, his sisters, and the souls of all the faithful departed. Provisions for financial penalties to be imposed on the abbey if the chaplain fails to celebrate mass for specified periods. The penalties are to be levied by the bishop of London or the dean and chapter of St Paul's Cathedral if the see is vacant, the archbishop of Canterbury or the chapter of Canterbury Cathedral Priory if the see is vacant, the collector for the papal chamber in England and the principal chamberlain of the papal chamber and are to be distributed between the fabrics of the cathedrals of London, Canterbury and Durham and other parties as specified. The abbey binds itself to observe the conditions of the grant and make provision for future modifications. The indenture in in 6 parts, to be deposited in the registries of the bishop of London, the abbey, the chapter of St Paul's Cathedral, the archbishop of Canterbury, Canterbury Cathedral Priory and the bishop of Durham.
