Description | Party: 'Dominus' William de Say Party: the prior and chapter of Canterbury Cathedral Priory William grants the priory the whole rent he holds of it in Southwark ('Suwerk') from 29 Sep 1254 for a term of 7 years for a payment of 114s 4d, which he owes for 7 years' arrears of an annual payment of 16s 4d. Of the rent payable to William, Robert de Burwell pays 11s, Geoffrey de pecham pays 4s, John alurich pays 3s and 14s 4d is received from shops on the same tenement. William will maintain the shops during the term. At the end of the term the rent and shops shall revert to William, except for the annual payment of 16s 4d, payable to the priory. If the priory suffers any loss because of a defect in the repair of the shops or because of any repair or cost relating to them through William's fault it shall hold the rent and shops after the term has expired until it has received full satisfaction.
