Party: 'Dominus' William the chaplain ('capellaus'), vicar of Seasalter

The priory grants William that house which was once the kitchen of 'Dominus' Henry the clerk, rector of Seasalter, together with the area within the ditch ('fossatum') surrounding it for life. William shall clean out ('mundo') the ditch and erect a wall on it by 29 Sep at his own cost and shall make the wall defensible and keep it against the sea. In the following year William shall increase the house by at least 15 feet in length with a roof of oak, also at his own cost. In the second year, likewise at his own cost, he shall make a chamber at the top ('caput') of the house for the use of the monks and their servants ('serviens') when necessary and at other times for his own use. This grant does not give William power to sell any of the houses, lands, meadows or pastures outside the ditch without the special permission of the warden appointed to keep the tithes of Sealsalter. If William fails to complete the works within the appointed terms he shall be deprived of the grant and possession, unless he has a reasonable excuse. William's successors shall not have any jurisdiction or claim after he death or departure. Priory's part of indenture to remain in its treasury. Priory's part of indenture.
