Description | View of account of the manor of Sandwich for 1271. Most of the account consists of receipts from ships from Bayonne ('Baon') [Pyrenees Atlantiques, France] landing cargo in the port of Sandwich. Names of the ships and their masters, names of merchants, brief details of the goods (mainly figs, dates, raisins and wax) and amounts paid given. There is also a section of receipts from ships carrying wine, giving names of merchants and amounts paid, and a total of receipts from cellars ('celarius').
