Richard grants Alan and Honor 5½ acres of land in the vill ('villa') of Southchurch, which he had of the gift of William le Bober and Sarah his wife, namely that land which fell to Sarah in inheritance as her share after the death of William del Hertberi, of which 3½ acres lie with Alan and Honor's land on 3 sides and the land of William Bouus to east, and 2 acres lie with Alan and Honor's land on 2 sides and between the land which was of William de Cheldecote and the way which leads from the messuage Southchurch, 'del Hordberi' to the market of Great Wakering to north. The grant is made to Alan and Honor and their heirs and after their deaths to Honor's nearest heirs.
In exchange, Alan and Honor grant Richard 4 acres of land which fell to Honor as her share after the death of William de le Hertberi, lying with Richard's land which was of William Pain to east, Alan and Honor's land to west, the way which is at the headland of that land next to the messuage of 'le Hordeberi' [to north] and Richard's demesne to south.
