| Description | From: [the prior and convent of Rochester Cathedral Priory]
[Notification of additional grievances suffered by Rochester Cathedral Priory at the hands of Gilbert de Glanville, bishop of Rochester.] The bishop procured the grant of the churches of Aylesford and St Margaret's, Rochester, to the hospital of Strood, without the priory's consent. In return, he issued charters falsely claiming that he made the stone cloister, organs and other things, when in fact the sacrist accounted for them. He also effected an exchange of land with the priory's tenants to extend the hospital to the detriment of both the priory's manor and its almonry. He also took away St John's chapel, Strood, which had been given to the priory by Bishop John I for the light of its church, without the priory's consent, and assigned St Nicholas's chapel, Strood, to the hospital, also without consulting the priory. The bishop has also given the lesser tithes from the demesne of Wickham to the hospital and he continues to favour the hospital at the priory's expense. The bishop also gave to priory's church of Chislehurst to W, who also retains half the priory's title of Metheringham [Lincolnshire] against its will. No date. [Date: as in Adams and Donahue, cited below.]
