Description | From: James I, king of England To: Thomas Parry, knight, chancellor of the duchy of Lancaster Thomas is to cause James's letters patent dated 25 Nov 1610 at the palace of Westminster (recited) to be made under the seal of the Duchy of Lancaster. The letters patent state that the king grants Anthony Higgins, clerk, BTh, John Favor, clerk, LLD, William Crashawe, clerk, BTh, Robert Cooke. BTh, William Barker, clerk, Christopher Lyndall, clerk, MA, George Proctor, clerk, MA, and William Beane, clerk, MA, all the money and property known as 'lez Communities' of the collegiate church of St Wilfred, Ripon as specified, including 'le Comon et Divident money', tithes in Ripon and in the vills ('villa') and fields of Ripon, Pateley Bridge and Grantley, various ecclesiastical offerings, ecclesiastical and probate jurisdiction and the court called 'le Common Fee Courte' and its profits. For an annual payment of £46 6s 6¾d, payable as specified to the receiver of the Duchy of Lancaster in the county of Yorkshire. The king also gants them an annuity of £10, payable as specified by the receiver of the Duchy of Lancaster in Yorkshire for the lands known as 'le Lampelightes'. The grant is for the maintenance of Ripon Collegiate Church and is made to the grantees as the dean and chapter of the church, not as private individuals. No date.
