DescriptionFrom: the mayor and jurats of Rye

They have examined the rolls of fines in the king's court of Rye and inspected two charters relating to their fellow baron ('Combaro') Laurence Lounceford, and Joan, his wife, daughter and heir of the late John yvory. Recites:

From: Laurence Lounceford of Rye; Joan, wife of Laurence Lounceford of Rye, daughter of the late John yvory of Rye
To: Stephen Elyot of Rye; Robert Bocher of Rye; Robert Aleyn of Rye
Of all lands, tenements, rents and services which were of John, Joan's father, in the liberty of the town of Rye ('villa predicta'). For greater security, Joan had the document sealed with the common seal of the town of Rye. Witness list. Dated 15 Aug 1381 at Rye.

From: Stephen Elyot; Robert Bocher; Robert Aleyn
To: Laurence Lounceford; Joan, wife of Laurence Lounceford
Of all lands, tenements, rents and services in the liberty of the town of Rye which they had of the gift of Laurence and Joan. Witness list. Dated 12 Oct 1381.

The mayor and jurats have caused these documents to be extracted at Laurence's request.
