Description | From: John de Renham, prior of Rochester Cathedral Priory; the convent of Rochester Cathedral Priory
Thomas de Ringmere, prior of Canterbury Cathedral Priory, and the chapter of Canterbury Cathedral Priory have given permission for John de Bradfield, bishop-elect of Rochester, to be consecrated elsewhere than in Canterbury Cathedral, to spare Rochester Priory and the bishop-elect labour and expense. Rochester Priory and the bishop-elect promise that no bishop-elect can or should be consecrated anywhere except Canterbury without Canterbury Cathedral Priory's permission. After bishops have been consecrated, their professions of obedience should be made at Canterbury and recorded in writing and they should show canonical obedience to the metropolitan church of Canterbury in all things, particularly when the see is vacant. Given at Rochester Cathedral Priory [Kent].
