This recites the letters of Peter, cardinal-priest of St Praxed's, and Bertrand, cardinal-deacon of St Mary in Aquiro, papal nuncios, dated 27 Jun 1338 at Canterbury, which recite the letters of Pope Benedict XII, dated 21 Jun 1337 at Avignon [Vaucluse, France]. The prior's mandate also recites a processus from Peter Burgundionis of 'Romanis', treasurer of Laon, papal chaplain, auditor of causes and papal nuncio, written by Simon of Charing, notary public, of Canterbury diocese, and dated 22 Nov 1337 at Dover (witnesses listed), which recites letters of Pope Benedict XII, dated 26 Jun 1337 at Avignon. Peter, Bertrand and Peter Burgundionis have been sent to England and France on papal business. The pope has empowered them to compel the clergy in England and France to pay their expenses. Details of expenses incurred by Peter and Bertrand and others (named) on their behalf. The prior has been given the task of levying the tax to pay for these expenses.
