| Description | From: Nicholas a Bourne of Hadlow; Thomas Godyng of East Peckham; John Godyng of East Peckham To: John Kayser of East Peckham A piece of land called 'long croft' with a lane belonging to it in East Peckham, 3 pieces of land and pasture lying together called 'le Brokys' and 2 meadows lying together called 'Penymed' and 'Byrchesmed' together with a piece of land called 'longclay', also a piece of land lying together there called 'Brodclay' and 'lytelclay' which were 2 pieces of land with a garden called 'Ryschelbreggardyn'' and a piece of land lying nearby called 'Oldhavgh'', all of which lie in East Peckham with a lane called 'Rysshelestret' to west, a lane called 'Browhellane' to east, the water running there called 'le Bourne' to north and the lands of the heirs of Gilbert Pykerell' called 'East feldys' to south. They also grant John a piece of land called 'Sovlefeld'' lying with the water running there called 'Byrchesbourne' to south and west, a lane called 'Sovlelane' to east and the king's highway to north. Also 2 pieces of adjoining land called 'Browhellys', lying with the water running there and John Kayser's weirs ('gurgita') to east and south, the meadow of Richard Hogyn called 'Stongrond' to west and the meadow of the heirs of Gilbert Pykerell' called 'Browneshell'' to north. All which lands Nicholas, Thomas and John Godyng, together with John Ropkyn', deceased, had, among other lands, of the gift of John Kayser. Given at East Peckham [Kent].

Nicholas, Thomas and John Godyng have made a sealed a duplicate of the charter at John Kayser's request, because it was agreed between John Kayser and William Sellyng, I, prior of Canterbury Cathedral Priory, and the convent of Canterbury Cathedral Priory that one of the charters should remain with the priory as security for a water mill called 'Brontebriggemell' in East Peckham, as is more fully specified in a charter concerning the mill, made and delivered to John Kayser. |
