| Description | From: Geoffrey, II, prior of Canterbury Cathedral Priory; the convent of Canterbury Cathedral Priory To: Peter of Bix ('bixle') The priory's land of Bix ('bixle') [Oxfordshire] which belongs to its manor of Newington [Oxfordshire]. For an annual payment of 2 marks, payable as specified in the priory's court of Newington for all services except suit of court to the manor of Newington and preserving ('fideliter custodire') the priory's wood which is in the same land, so that the priory may take from the wood what is necessary for fire, the mill, the weir? ('al Gord.') and making its houses. Peter shall also receive what is necessary for his houses of Bix and for fire. Peter has sworn in the priory's chapter house that he will faithfully observe this, and that his heirs will also swear, and has paid a relief of 2 marks. The charter is made as a 4-part chirograph, the parts to remain with the priory, Peter, Reading Abbey and Abingdon Abbey. The parts held by Reading Abbey and Abingdon Abbey are to have the seals of the priory and Peter. No date. [Date: Prior Geoffrey's dates.]
