DescriptionMgrs Richard de Gravesend, treasurer of St Paul's Cathedral, London, Stephen de Gravesend, William de Chaddleshunt and Gilbert de Middelton, canons of St Paul's, were appointed delgates by the chapter to elect the bishop ('compromissarius') together with Mgr Richard de Newport, archdeacon of Middlesex, their fellow canon. They entrusted power to Richard de Newport, in the name of the whole chapter, to elect Mgr Gilbert de Segrave, precentor of St Paul's, as bishop and to publish the election as the choice of the majority of the chapter.
Written in the chapter house of St Paul's Cathedral.
Notarial attestation and sign of Henry de Bray, son of Norman Franceis of Rothwell in Lincoln diocese, who wrote the document.
