To: John de Sancta Syrya, monk of Pontigny Abbey; Guillerinus de vincellus, monk of Pontigny Abbey

Simon appoints John and Guillerinus as his proctors and attornies to act for him in all causes in the realm of England before King Edward II or his officials or any other judges, especially in matters concerning the abbey's churches of New Romney and the abbey's goods belonging to those churches and to receive all profits and goods belonging to those churches anywhere in England. Especially they are to receive an annual payment of 20 marks which is owed to the abbey for the light of St Edmund in the city of Canterbury ('pro luminari Sancti Eadmundi in civitate Cant'') [in St Edmund Ridingate church?]. They are also to receive alms and legacies to the abbey and are to find a suitable person as vicar of New Romney. No date. [Date: date of original.]
