| Description | At the court baron of Richard Andrewes, esq, [lord of the manor of Mersham], in the presence of Richard May, gent, steward, Thomas Boycott, gent, surveyor ('common Land measurer') deposed that he had measured the piece of the common called 'Hatch Heath', which Sir Norton Knatchbull had enclosed and added to his park with the consent of the tenants of the manor, and that he had also measured the piece of land called 'Coneyffield' which Sir Norton had added to the common in exchange and found that 'Coneyffield' contains the same amount of land as the piece of 'Hatch Heath' and is of much better quality ('much better in goodness'). Examined by Richard May, steward. |
