DescriptionArticles by the dean and chapter of Ely Cathedral, giving reasons why they should not agree to the alienation and exchange of lands with the queen [Elizabeth I] to which the bishop of Ely, Martin Heton, recently consented. With corrections in another hand. [The lands are not specified, but are presumably in the Fenland, because article 5 concerns the importance of maintaining drainage works.] No date. [Date: Bishop Heton was consecrated on 3 Feb 1600 and Elizabeth I died on 24 Mar 1603.]

Endorsed 'Reasons by D: Nevile [Thomas Neville, dean of Canterbury and canon of Ely] against alienacion of Bishops landes' in contemporary hand.
