| Description | From: Robert of Champion [in Newnham], son of Pagan of Champion To: Canterbury Cathedral Priory The grant by Fulk of Newnham, Robert's grandfather, and Pagan of Champion, Robert's father, of Edwin of Newnham, his heirs and his land, consisting of ½ a virgate of land, for which Edwin pays the priory 4s 6d and 3 ploughshares a year. Edwin is to be free of all services and customs, except general scutage and danegeld of ½ a virgate of land, which run ('curro') through the whole of England. Fulk and Pagan made the grant to God and St Anselm for their souls and the souls of their parents. Robert makes the grant for his soul and the souls of his ancestors. No date. [Date: handwriting.]
