| Description | From: Thomas de Fyndon, abbot of St Augustine's Abey, Canterbury; the convent of St Augustine's Abey, Canterbury To: 'Domnius' William, vicar of Milton Regis William tried to increase the portion of the vicarage by witholding greater tithes and other payments, to the diminution of the rectory, but he and the abbey have now reached an agreement. William shall receive tithes as specified and offerings to the altar, reserving other tithes as specified and all other offerings which the abbey's sacrist receives in Coleshall [in Milton Regis]. The abbey grants William an annual payment of 3 seams of palm-barley ('ordeum palm''), 1 seam of wheat and 4s, payable as specified by its warden ('custos'). It also confirms William's purchase of tenements and houses in which he does not live and the arable land called 'St Martin's Field' ('Campus Sancti Martini'). The composition is sealed with the seals of the abbey and William and, at William's request, for greater security, the seal of 'Dominus' John Pecham, archbishop of Canterbury, as ordinary. Given at Canterbury, publicly ('publice') in the chapter house of St Augustine's Abbey. [William may have used the seal of the penitentiary of Canterbury.]
