In a dispute between Mgr Peter of Limousin ('Lemoviciensis'), papal sub-deacon and chaplain, rector of Monkton church, and the prior and convent of Canterbury Cathedral Priory, represented by its proctor, Gregory, the priory almoner. Concerning Peter's claim to greater and lesser tithes in Monkton parish, including tithes of strangers' animals pastured in the parish and tithes of the priory's mills, a meadow called 'abrokesend' and the priory's fishery. John awards one moiety of the predial tithes to the rector of Monkton church and the other to the priory's almonry. He awards other tithes to Peter and also awards him 40 marks in compensation. Given at John's house ('hospitium') in Anagni [Roma, Italy], in the presence of the parties to the dispute and 'Dominus' Anselm of Canterbury, priest, Mgr Gilbert of Hereford, Peter Alamandi, clerk, Robert the clerk, Robert de Benchesham, John de Hendigheam and Matthew de Benehale, John's servants.
