Also ½ a ploughland lying with the River Stour to east, which lies as far as the border of Garulf, the king's thane, at Mersham, a saltpan or 'sealternsteall' [Seasalter in Whitstable] with the cottage ('cota') belonging to it in a place called Harwich in Whitstable, 4 carts of the king's wood as specified, pastures for pigs, called 'denbera' in the saxon tongue, at Huson [in Tenterden], Haffenden [in High Halden], 'herbedingdenn' [possibly 'Bardinden' (lost) in Bethersden], 'pafingdenn' [possibly Engeham in Woodchurch], 'widefingdenn' [possibly Witherden in Headcorn] and Bletchenden [in Headcorn]. 40 weys ('statera') of cheese of 'mersce' are to be rendered at Mersham, also 40 lambs and 40 sheep's fleeces .
