The king has given the prior and convent of Canterbury Cathedral Priory licence to acquire lands to the value of £40 in mortmain. Wishing to give effect to this grant, he grants John Wade and John Claydon, citizens and fishmongers ('Piscenarius') of London, and Stephen Betenham, John Sheldwych and John Flemyng of Kent licence to grant the priory 2 messuages in St Margaret Fish Street Hill ('de Briggestrete') parish, St Leonard Eastcheap, St Michael Cornhill parish and St Bartholomew the Less ('parvus') parish, London. The lands are held of the king in burgage tenure and are worth 21 marks a year, as the king's escheator in London established by an inquisition in the presence of the warden of the city of London. The lands are worth £23, in part satisfaction of the £40. Sent patent. The clerk is Billyngford. Given at Nottingham [Nottinghamshire].
